Hull City are keen to sign Manchester City striker Benjani Mwaruwari on a season-long loan.
The Zimbabwe ace, 30, has fallen down the Eastlands pecking order since the captures of Roque Santa Cruz and Carlos Tevez.
Brown has already failed to sign Fraizer Campbell and Daryl Murphy - and he faces competition from Portsmouth for Benjani.
