Hull's Meyler eager to play under O'Neill in Rep of Ireland setup

Hull City midfielder David Meyler is hoping he can force his way into the Republic of Ireland squad once again.

The 24-year old has played four times for Ireland, with his last match being a year ago against Greece, but is determined to play under new manager Martin O'Neill again after working with him at Sunderland prior to being sold to the Tigers.

"It's fabulous," Meyler told the Hull Daily Mail. "Martin has been a hugely successful manager throughout almost all of his club career, and (new assistant) Roy Keane had an incredible career as a player. They both have so much to bring to Irish football.

"I was delighted when I heard who had got the job. Martin's a fantastic manager and it's up to me to keep playing well with Hull and force my way into his squad. It's up to the players to prove they deserve to be in the squad."
