Hull striker Richard Garcia is intent on gaining more regular first team football in a bid to force his way into the national squad.
The 27-year old has started just seven games this season for the Tigers after being a first team regular last season in the Championship and as a result has a concern that he may miss out on Socceroos selection for the next World Cup qualifier against Japan.
"It's a catch 22 really," Garcia said.
"Because when you are doing well for your club you have more chance of playing for your country, and if you're doing well for the Socceroos then it benefits you at club level and makes your manager sit up and take notice.
"Of course, I'm hopeful of being involved against Japan but equally the boss might decide not to go with me."
Garcia said it is now up to him to prove to Hull boss Phil Brown that he can be an integral part of the team.
"I'm just working hard in training and when I do come on it's up to me to make an impression," he added.
"I'm not playing as much as I'd like, I'm just trying to work my way back in.
"I think the boss is still not sure of what his best line-up is, he's still tinkering, so that might work in my favour, who knows."
