Hull's Bullard likely to miss up to eight weeks

Hull City midfielder Jimmy Bullard looks set to miss up to eight weeks after having a scan on a knee injury he sustained on the weekend.

The 31-year old landed awkwardly when challenging for an aerial ball in the 3-0 loss to Aston Villa on Saturday and left the pitch in tears but the news is much better than the club initially feared according to manager Phil Brown.

"I am sitting here like a man waiting in the emergency room for his wife to give birth," Brown told Sky Sports News. "It's been an horrendous day for me but I'm now very hopeful Jimmy will be back on the field of play before the transfer window closes.

"That's what I and Jimmy will be looking at. Hopefully we'll have him for three to four months of the season still."

Brown praised Bullard for the way he has gone about this latest mishap after returning just a few weeks ago after being out for eight months with a more serious knee injury.

"He's a tremendous character, the way he is he just wants the ball and to please people," Brown added. "He's that kind of character, there are not so many about."
