Hull City boss Steve Bruce and Sunderland manager Gus Poyet are set to be charged with misconduct by the Football Association.
The pair clashed in the first half of the eventual 1-1 draw between the two clubs at the KC Stadium on Tuesday after Poyet booted a water bottle when sent to the stands for protesting a yellow card received by Jack Rodwell.
There were heated words between Bruce and Poyet and the duo will now have to answer to the FA for their actions.
The Telegraph reports that the pair 'spoke amicably' after the game with Bruce admitting it was simply an incident that could have been avoided if everybody involved kept their cool.
"I don't know why I reacted like that. We all do stupid things but it was handbags. These things happen in the heat of the moment and they happen in big games," the ex-Black Cats boss said.
