Hull City midfielder Sam Clucas has revealed how he was cut by Leicester City for being "too small".
Clucas now stands at 6ft 2in.
"I went into the meeting and there was a package on the table with my name on. I thought, 'That's the scholarship'," recalled Clucas to the Daily Mail.
"I was a striker and top scorer for four seasons on the bounce, but they said, 'We're releasing you, you're too small'. I was in shock.
"They actually gave us tickets for that afternoon's game. All the lads couldn't believe it and were asking what had happened. I was sitting there thinking, 'I wish I hadn't come now'.
"There were a few nights after when I cried myself to sleep, I'm not ashamed to say that. My confidence just went.
"The thing is, Leicester once brought in specialists who could predict how tall you would be. They said I would be 6ft 2in. Everyone was like, 'No chance'."
