Hull City are ready to try again for Sol Campbell.

The News of the World says former Arsenal and England defender Campbell, 35, is available on a free transfer after leaving Notts County after just one game earlier this season.

Campbell was hoping to secure a move to Manchester United but has had his hopes dashed by Old Trafford chief Sir Alex Ferguson, who insists he is not interested.

The Tigers are willing to hand Campbell a 12-month deal worth around £25,000 a week and hope to open talks with him before the transfer window opens.
