Hull City midfielder Sam Clucas says the players are keen for Mike Phelan to be handed the manager's job fulltime.
The Tigers have won their first two games of the new season.
Clucas, 25, added: “Mike has done a great job in charge.
“I don't think he knows what's going on, off the field, but he's taken charge of the two games and has worked tirelessly.
“These results haven't been flukes. It's not been a case of us nicking a goal when we've played badly.
“We're playing good football and we've deserved to win both games. We had the best chances here and managed to take them in the second half.
“Everyone is writing us off. I've seen pundits saying we've got no chance after what's happened. It's become a motivational tool for us."
