Hull owner Allam: Without foreign owners there's no Rooney, Suarez!

Hull City owner Assem Allam is fed-up with the way he's been portrayed over his battle to change the club's name. Having saved the club from possible extinction, he has invested more than £75million and now sees Steve Bruce's side just two FA Cup wins away from fulfilling the owner's dream of seeing Hull - bottom of the Football League just 15 years ago - play in Europe.

With more than half of Premier League clubs now in overseas hands, Allam says his critics need to wake up.

"I hope the football fans stop talking about foreign owners," he told the Mail on Sunday, "because we don't want to deprive English football of foreign owners. It would be the end.

"We need to wake them [the fans] up: it is foreign money that has made the Premier League the most-watched league in the world. Without foreign money you cannot watch Wayne Rooney, Luis Suarez and the rest. We don't want football fans in Britain to ruin it.

"I wish to God the loud minority don't spoil it in the future for the silent majority, otherwise I don't know how they will live with themselves if things go wrong, and I don't know how the majority will forgive them."
