Coventry City are closing in on AZ Alkmaar midfielder Aron Einar Gunnarsson.

He is regarded as the next big thing in Icelandic football and has warranted his place in the national side by being one of the best players and, if he signs, it will be seen as a bit of a coup for the Sky Blues.

Hull City and Middlesbrough are also understood to be interested in his services although, as yet, Coventry are the only club to have had an offer accepted by AZ.
