Hull City goalkeeper Steve Harper feels Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew was lucky to keep his job this week.
Pardew is facing a lengthy ban after clashing with Harper's Hull teammate David Meyler.
"For a manager to do that for me he is lucky to still be in his job," Harper told BBC Newcastle.
"I don't think it has been blown out of proportion. I still can't believe it.
"The incident seems to have been on non-stop on the television and every time you see it, it seems to get a little bit worse. I am amazed.
"My brain was saying: Did that really just happen? He didn't really do what I just think he did, did he?
"Everyone said exactly the same thing - that they couldn't believe it."
