Hull full-back Robertson: Ref apologised for Alexis handball

Hull City fullback Andrew Robertson admits referee Mark Clattenburg apologised to them for allowing Alexis Sanchez's opener to stand in defeat to Arsenal.

Sanchez scored a brace in the early kick-off, including netting in the 34th minute that has caused controversy over whether or not it should have been disallowed.

Left-back Robertson said: "Yeah it was handball. The referees apologised to us and said it was a handball so he's obviously looked at it at half time.

"At the end of the day the decisions don't go for you when you come to these big stadiums and that's killed us because you see the way we were after half time.

"He said he wasn't 100 per cent sure, obviously we can argue he shouldn't have given the goal but he can argue he should have.

"Not many referees admit they're wrong. Its good but it doesn't make it any better."
