Hull defender McShane excited about Premier League return

Paul McShane is looking forward to returning to the Premier League with Hull City.

The former Manchester United and Sunderland defender has revived his Tigers career under manager Steve Bruce.

McShane told the Irish Sun: "If you had told me last summer that I would be promoted and collect a couple of player of the year awards, I wouldn't have believed you. It's been a hell of a turnaround.

"For two years, I was the forgotten man. I had people coming up to me in Hull saying 'you're still here' and I was like 'yeah I am'.

"This season the fans have been chanting my name."

The supporters are not the only ones who appreciate his efforts.

He added: "Steve Bruce told me a couple of weeks ago that, no matter what league we were in, he wanted me here.

"At the start of the season, I was thinking, 'there are so many free agents in football, I could struggle to get a club'. You never know what might happen, I could have ended up jobless.

"Things were just going downhill for me so it's quite satisfying."
