Paul McShane is looking forward to returning to the Premier League with Hull City.
McShane told the Irish Sun: “If you had told me last summer that I would be promoted and collect a couple of player of the year awards, I wouldn’t have believed you. It’s been a hell of a turnaround.
“For two years, I was the forgotten man. I had people coming up to me in Hull saying ‘you’re still here’ and I was like ‘yeah I am’.
“This season the fans have been chanting my name.”
The supporters are not the only ones who appreciate his efforts.
He added: “Steve Bruce told me a couple of weeks ago that, no matter what league we were in, he wanted me here.
“At the start of the season, I was thinking, ‘there are so many free agents in football, I could struggle to get a club’. You never know what might happen, I could have ended up jobless.
“Things were just going downhill for me so it’s quite satisfying.”
