Hull defender Davies retains England hopes

Hull City defender Curtis Davies retains hopes of breaking into the England World Cup squad.

Liverpool hot-shot Luis Suarez has scored eight goals in his last five games but hardly had a sniff against defender Davies at Hull eight days ago as the Tigers triumphed 3-1.

Davies, 28, said: "It was funny. I got a load of tweets through from Hull fans, mentioning the FA, saying that Roy Hodgson should pick me because I was the only one who had stopped Suarez this season.

"It makes me laugh. It was good banter and nice to know the fans are backing me. Whoever I play against, I'd back myself to do well."
