Hull defender Bruce welcomes increased defensive competition

Hull City defender Alex Bruce has no problem with new defensive signings being made.

Bruce knows Dad, Steve, is shopping for a new centre-half.

"I like to think I can do as good a job as anyone else," Bruce told the Hull Daily Mail. "Hopefully, I can get in the team and hold my place.

"The team will be chopped and changed to utilise everyone to keep us all as fresh as possible.

"It's a squad game these days and not the same 11 players will play every week. It's going to be tough to pick a side but the manager's job is to pick the best squad available.

"I'm sure he'll use different squads for different games this season, especially with the amount of matches we have to play in Europe and the league.

"We have a good healthy squad and it looks like we are building that."
