Hull City manager Steve Bruce suggests his club are close to signing Shaun Maloney.

The Scotland international has been linked with the Tigers in recent weeks and according to Bruce, a deal with MLS side Chicago Fire is n the verge of being finalised.

"Shaun Maloney is quite close now. We are hopeful," said Bruce after his side defeated Fulham 2-1 on Wednesday night.

32-year-old attacking midfielder Maloney joined the Fire as a Designated Player from Wigan Athletic in January but is now set for a return to England just seven months after leaving for the US.
