Hull City chairman Paul Duffen is demanding an inquiry into their penalty decision against Aston Villa being overturned.
While replays proved that referee Steve Bennett was correct, Duffen is concerned that someone else at the KC Stadium - possibly with access to a TV monitor - may have been in communication with assistant Andy Halliday through his radio earpiece to help sway Bennett.
The intervention of a third party and video evidence would both contravene the rules.
"All we are saying is that the events bring into question who exactly did influence the referee," said Duffen last night. "I would like a report from the match officials and confirmation of who was talking in the earpiece. There is a concern that somebody [else] was using video evidence.
"I have spoken to the Premier League's chief executive Richard Scudamore this morning and he assured me he will ask some questions and come back to me.
"We are most concerned about the integrity of the competition, and that some form of video evidence isn't being introduced by officials on a discretionary basis."
