Hull City captain Curtis Davies was shocked by the sacking of West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke.

Davies admits he doesn't know what to expect from Saturday's opponents, who finished last season in eighth place.

"I was very shocked to see Steve Clark go," said Davies, who made 65 appearances at West Brom between 2005 and 2008, to the Hull Daily Mail.

"I didn't work with him but from what I've heard he was a very good manager, and a good tactician who likes to play football.

"It's a strange one because it can either galvanise their players to put on a good performance or they fold.

"I'm hoping it's the latter and we can take advantage of their situation and takes all three points."
