Hull boss: Utility man Mendy deserves international recognition

Hull City boss Phil Brown believes Bernard Mendy's recent form is deserving of further international recognition from France. The Tigers chief has called for the 27-year-old to be given an opportunity to add to his three caps for France.

"Bernard came here wanting to play international football, and if continues in the mode that he's in, he will play international football again, absolutely no doubt in my mind" Brown told the Hull Daily Mail.

"He's got tremendous ability and tremendous pace, and that's why we brought him to Hull City.

"I didn't just bring him because I'd worked with him before during my time at Bolton.

"I recognised what I had worked with before and I wanted more.

"The pace side of things and his ability to run at people, combined with his defensive abilities, are all part and parcel of a very good player."
