Hull boss Silva calls for calm after Sunderland shock

Hull City's survival hopes were rocked by defeat to relegated Sunderland at home.

Second-half goals from Billy Jones and Jermain Defoe ended Sunderland's 91-day wait for a win, with the 2-0 reverse Silva's first home loss in three years.

"Our team played with big tension behind us and this is a surprise to me," said Tigers boss Marco Silva. "Of course it's not a good moment for us but nothing is finished this afternoon. Of course it's not a good afternoon for us but it changes nothing. We need to work hard during the week to prepare for the next game.

"It's not a good moment but it's a moment to be calm. This afternoon our players didn't play calmly … tried to do everything too fast in some moments. If you don't be calm it's impossible to play well.

"We didn't deserve the result. I believe if we'd scored first we would have won the game. We didn't score and of course Sunderland had some chances themselves on the counter attack. Even when we don't play well, it is impossible at this level if we lose our focus like we did."
