Hull City manager Steve Bruce has indicated that tonight's clash with Sunderland is a must-win for his side.
The 15th-placed Tigers host the Black Cats at the KC Stadium knowing that a victory will put them four points ahead of the Wearside club and even further away from QPR, Burnley and Aston Villa who occupy 17th, 18th and 19th on the table.
"We'd have an outstanding chance of staying in this division if we can win this game," said Bruce.
"At this stage of the season seven points, with our goal difference too, is always huge. That's worth an extra point. That's a huge gap with 10 games to go.
"It's a wonderful opportunity to put a bit of daylight between ourselves and Sunderland. In doing that it would give us a big cushion over the bottom three as well.
"It's a big game. I'm sure Gus (Poyet) will be like myself, it's a big chance for us to get a result that we both need.
"If we can get a win it would go a long way to keeping us in the division."
