Hull boss Bruce ponders striker's role for young Maguire

Hull City boss Steve Bruce may use defender Harry Maguire in attack for their meeting with West Ham United.

Although the 21-year-old has been reared as an orthodox centre-back, he scored 11 goals for Sheffield United in the two seasons that preceded his £2.5m to the KC Stadium last July.

"We've looked at Harry Maguire because we know he's played there for Sheffield United," said Bruce.

"He scored a lot of goals last year. It's a big ask for him (to play up front) but it could happen.

"We've seen it before, we used to see it all the time in my day. I used to play there occasionally. I was hopeless, mind.

"Harry can play. He's done it before at a lower level but up here (points at head) it's unfair on the kid.

"It's hard enough playing in the Premier League without playing out of position."
