Hull City boss Steve Bruce is delighted with the impact of skipper Curtis Davies this season.
The 28-year-old has barely put a foot wrong since arriving from Birmingham in a deal worth £2.25m last summer and Bruce has been left in no doubt City have landed a bargain.
"For me, he's a deserving player of the year," Bruce told the Hull Daily Mail. "He's had a wonderful first season and done everything we could ask of him.
"He's been a really good signing.
"Week in and week out, people see he endears himself to supporters.
"He's one of those who is not naturally gifted but, by God, he makes the best of what he's got. He's a competitor.
"Supporters, even though they love to see flair players, they love to see people playing with a bit of pride and for the shirt."
