Hull City boss Steve Bruce has been frustrated in his pursuit of a new striker signing.
The Sun says Bruce has been searching for a goalscorer to shoot the Premier League new-boys to survival next season.
But moves for Burnley's Charlie Austin, Gary Hooper of Celtic, Aston Villa outcast Darren Bent, Norwich hitman Grant Holt and Belgian international Ilombe Mboyo from Gent have all failed because Bruce refused to pay over the odds.
