Hull boss Bruce defends Man Utd keeper Amos over gaffe

Hull City boss Steve Bruce defended goalkeeper Ben Amos after his gaffe in defeat to Cardiff City.

Amos, on-loan from Manchester United, was blamed for the opening goal.

Bruce revealed to the Hull Daily Mail: "Ben's form is typical of a young player. Do we look to protect him because he's a young lad? That's something we'll have to look at in the week. We'll see how his confidence is. That's why he's here and why all the young lads come out on loan, they come here to improve and grow.

"He made some terrific saves but it's disappointing because he just hasn't seen the guy. He should always come and catch it at its highest and he didn't see him coming in. That was the wrong decision. He's a young goalkeeper who will improve with time but, at the moment, there's too many mistakes.

"He's got to get over them and stop it, because after that he's kept us in the game. One save low was terrific. We know he's capable but he's got things he needs to work on."
