Hull City boss Phil Brown has revealed Michael Turner is edging closer to an England call-up.

Brown told the Hull Daily Mail: "I had a casual conversation with the England physio at a dinner last Thursday and he said Fabio Capello was interested in Jimmy (Bullard) and Michael.

"It was a conversation to gauge if the players were fit enough to play against Spain.

"Fabio Capello was at the game on Saturday and as far as Michael was concerned, he gave a performance worthy of interest.

"We got a phone call from Gary Lewin at 6pm on Saturday evening to say that Michael would not be required.

"But just to be in the thoughts of the England set-up is massively encouraging.

"Fingers crossed, Michael will continue to show the form he has done all season and who knows?"
