Hull boss Brown: Not lunacy to play Cooper against Torres

Hull City boss Phil Brown stands by his decision to go with rookie centre-half Liam Cooper for their 6-1 thrashing at Liverpool.

Brown told the Hull Daily Mail: "People can look back and say it was madness or lunacy putting Liam in against the caliber of forwards Liverpool boast.

"The type of form that Ferando Torres is in, he could cause problems for any centre-half in the country.

"It's a catch-22 giving him his debut at Liverpool, but if you'd have asked him whether he wanted his debut at Anfield, the answer would have been yes.

"The lad has got a future, and while he might need a little bit of picking up, the bottom line is he was ready and I firmly believed in him."
