Hull City boss Phil Brown admits to making major mistakes during last season's survival mission.
"Of course I made mistakes, I think we all did," he said.
"There are certain performances I can blame myself for.
"Maybe the fact that I trusted everyone the same on Christmas Day, hence the reason why we got such a disappointing performance on Boxing Day. But like I say, we all made mistakes."
With the football world in relative hibernation, Brown will enjoy a family holiday this month before beginning pre-season training on July 6.
As Brown is the first to admit, a 17th-placed finish will not be good enough next season.
He added: "Stumbling over the finishing with 35 points was enough this year but would I take that next year? No, I wouldn't. Progression of the football club is all that matters and now we have to start looking higher than 17th."
