Hull boss Brown happy to take Geovanni gamble

Hull City boss Phil Brown is delighted with his capture of former Manchester City midfielder Geovanni.

He told Hull's website: "With regards to the Geovanni signing it was a coup for us, especially when you look at his exploits at Manchester City last season. He played 19 times for them but probably thought that the Premier League had turned its back on him and he headed back to Brazil presumably thinking it was all over.

"But as soon as I knew he was available, and having seen him play for Manchester City a couple of times last season, I realised that there's a very good football player in there.

"He's a typical Brazilian in that he loves the ball and loves to take care of it and bringing someone of his quality to the club was a no-brainer for me. Having then met him it made it even more of a no-brainer because he's a great character. Geo is strong but fair and is a gentleman but plays the game to win."
