Hull City boss Phil Brown insists he was unaware of a major halftime bust-up between Daniel Cousin and Geovanni during their 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

Brown also claimed the half-time substitution of Geovanni for Nicky Barmby had always been intended.

The boss said: "I have no idea what happened. It did not affect me in making any changes. I didn't think Geovanni was doing what I wanted.

"Will I be speaking to him? No. Was a punch thrown? I think it shows they care. I couldn't ask for any more spirit or commitment from my players."
