Hull City attacker Robert Snodgrass struggled for positives after Scotland's 3-0 defeat to England at Wembley.
Snodgrass admits the World Cup qualifying defeat was difficult to take.
"It's so frustrating and it's hard to stay optimistic and keep the spirits up," mused the 29-year-old. "It's hard when lads come away with Scotland, away from their families and their kids. We want to get good results, we want to do well for the nation.
"We're wearing our hearts on our sleeves out there and I'm so glad to be part of that. But it's not nice when you're getting beaten.
"It's your country so it hurts. Every defeat hurts you. It's not what you want as a player. You want to take things forward as a nation — but I appreciate people will say it's the same old story with Scotland. That's why it's hard to be positive."
