Hull aim to trump dithering Newcastle for Villa striker Bent

Hull City are making a move for Aston Villa striker Darren Bent.

The Sun says Newcastle United are dithering over Villa's £6million asking price and the ex-England striker's £70,000-a-week wage demands.

And Hull boss Steve Bruce is ready to go back for the hitman, 29, who he signed for Sunderland in 2009.

A source insisted: "Hull wouldn't baulk at meeting Villa's asking price.

"Steve made Bent his first signing at Sunderland and he rates him very highly.

"Hull know they need to boost their firepower going into the top flight."
