The Argentine criticised Hughton in the national press this week.
"No, he hasn't asked to leave," said Hughton. "The relationship I have got with him is very, very good. He is somebody I have a lot of respect for. He is in there fighting and competing and that is all I can ask him to do.
"In terms of whether we will fine him or not that is club business and will be kept in-house. These are things as a manager you have to deal with. We have a very good group here and Luciano is a smashing lad but sometimes players make mistakes.
"It's not so much the timing but I am more disappointed in the fact we have a policy at this club and Luciano knows that. It is something that should have not have gone out in the paper and it disappoints me that it has, but we will solve that. In reference to the comments he made he is very welcome to make me aware of those directly - my door is always open."
