Chris Hughton admits his sacking by Newcastle United took him by complete surprise.
Hughton, 52, seemed to be safe at St James' Park, having brought the Magpies back to the top flight, but he is still in the dark over his sacking.
"It was a very sad period for myself, particularly having achieved all the goals and targets that we had wanted to achieve," said Hughton.
"So taking that into consideration I was as surprised as anybody.
"Of course there's that little bit of bitterness. That's only natural. I still don't know the reasons."
He added: "I feel very refreshed but am very much looking forward to getting back as soon as I can."
