Newcastle United caretaker coach Chris Hughton is happy to have Alan Smith available.

Hughton told the Evening Chronicle: "Alan hasn't been able to serve the club as well as he would have liked due to injury.

"The big thing is it's pleasing to see him back. He's been through his troubles with injury and nobody has worked harder than him to get back.

"He's got experience but has been lacking match practice."
