Newcastle United caretaker boss Chris Hughton has praised Ryan Taylor over his response to being dropped for last week's 1-1 draw at Hull City.

"Ryan will be very much in consideration again," Hughton told the Evening Chronicle. "He is part of a squad that is fighting for places.

"Unfortunately for him, he lost out at Hull, but Ryan is very much in our thoughts. I only have to look at his contribution since he came here to see how delighted we should be.

"His response has been very good. After the result at the weekend I couldn't fault anybody in training this week.

"It has been very good and very bright. It has been the right response."
