Birmingham have met with Chris Hughton to discuss their managerial vacancy following last weekend's acrimonious departure of Alex McLeish. Hughton is now the odds-on favourite with bookmakers for the role at St Andrews as Birmingham, who were last season's Carling Cup winners, prepare for life in the Championship after relegation from the top flight.

The former Newcastle boss has been out of work after being axed by the Magpies back in December.
