Hughton: Norwich signings could go to the wire

Chris Hughton feels his search for a new Norwich striker could drag on until the final hours of the transfer window. The Canaries have been linked with the likes of Celtic's Gary Hooper and Danny Graham of Swansea, but so far there have been no new arrivals at Carrow Road this month.

"The search is ongoing," he said. "We've been linked with 40 to 50 strikers. It's a very difficult time.

"There are so many phone calls, so many agents pushing players. You don't even know if they are available and probably most of them are not.

"I think we'll be late Thursday night. Hopefully any business we have done is before then."

Hughton would not be drawn on the possibility of signing Jamie Mackie from Premiership rivals QPR.

He said: "It is a name I'm aware of and has been mentioned. He's also got a value to Queens Park Rangers. He's very much their player."
