Newcastle United's Chris Hughton felt his side were done an injustice after losing 2-1 to Manchester City on Sunday.
The Magpies were beaten by a controversial penalty which was converted by Carlos Tevez before City's Adam Johnson netted a 75th minute after Jonas Gutierrez had equalised in the 24th minute.
Hughton felt it was an extremely unlucky fact that referee Martin Atkinson awarded the penalty to Tevez after Mike Williamson's challenge but did not provide the same comfort for Newcastle when Shola Ameobi was brought down by Joleon Lescott later in proceedings.
"It is an injustice that we have come out of the game with a result like that," he said.
"Games like this are difficult enough, but you need decisions to go your way and with those two incidents, the referee made two horrendous ones.
"My first view was that Mike Williamson played the ball and that the initial contact is outside the penalty box.
Speaking of the Lescott incident, Hughton said: "Absolutely (it is a penalty). We've already seen it. Lescott loses his footing and of course - absolute penalty.
"It's a tough enough place to go."
