Hughton hails 'big win' as Brighton defeat Watford

Brighton were back to winning ways with a 1-0 triumph over Watford on Saturday.

Brighton beat Watford 1-0 courtesy of Pascal Gross' goal. After seven matches without a win the victory means Albion are now 12th, while Watford have one point from six matches.

Seagulls boss Chris Hughton said, “It felt like a big win. It was a very good performance that deserved the win. The only thing that we've got to stop doing is applying more pressure on ourselves.

“I felt the performance was worthy of more than a 1-0 scoreline, and of course, until that goal goes in, you're applying that little bit more pressure on yourselves.

“When you've got a side that are as good offensively as Watford are, and you restrict them to minimal chances, certainly no clear-cut chances, it shows that you've put in a good defensive performance.

“We also had really good opportunities ourselves, to make sure we won this game a little bit more comfortably.

“But that's the next phase for us, to try and take these games on a little bit and relieve that pressure on ourselves."
