Hughton expects Newcastle transfer plans to ramp up after World Cup

Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton expects the summer market to kick into action after the World Cup.

Hughton has not made a single signing since promotion was sealed but believes there will be a flurry of transfer market activity once the World Cup has been completed.

"I expect more business after the World Cup," the former Republic of Ireland international told Radio Newcastle.

"At the moment everyone is evaluating what they have and what they are prepared to let go and what sort of fees they want for their players. That is normal. There certainly will be some business done but I didn't expect too much to be done post-season.

"But we will get to the stage over the next few weeks where I think you will start to see a bit more business."
