Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has shrugged off Xherdan Shaqiri talking about his future.
The Swiss admits he wants to play again in the Champions League.
“I can understand it totally," said a phlegmatic Hughes. “He's still a young man and I think he's really enjoying his time here.
“You can see this club is a really sound base for him. He's not actively trying to leave, but he's trying to play at a consistent level.
“That will enable him to be successful here and for us to benefit from his performances, and you never know where that leads.
“It's not surprising that he has ambitions and once you've played in the Champions League, which he has on numerous occasions, then your challenge is to see if you can get back in. That's fair enough.
“He can use that challenge and that can help us. I don't have any problem with it. It's just personal ambition and drive from within that he can use to our advantage as well."
