Hughes throws hat into Motherwell ring

Former Hibernian boss John Hughes is interested in the vacant manager's job at Motherwell. Hughes has been out of work since leaving Hibs in October and he is keen to get back into management.

"It's certainly a job that would appeal to me," said Hughes.

"I feel it's a real, hard working-class town and that appeals to me because the values that these people have and usually the supporters have are real, hard working class and that's right up my street."

Hughes expects a number of candidates will apply for the Motherwell job, but believes he has the right credentials to land the role.

"It will be the usual names; myself, Gus (MacPherson), Jimmy Calderwood. There'll be one or two come from outfield, that's just usual," added Hughes.

"I think my CV speaks for itself - Scottish Cup final, two teams in Europe in the last two years. There are not many other managers that can say that and put that in their CV. I can do that.

"If people are doing their homework and they're looking at what's going about then the CV stands up for itself."
