Hughes: Stoke delighted to tie down versatile Cameron

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes was pleased to tie down USA international Geoff Cameron to a long-term deal which will see him remain at the club until the summer of 2018.

Cameron arrived at the Britannia Stadium from MLS side Houston Dynamo in 2012 and has established himself as an integral part of Hughes' side.

"Yes, we are pleased about that [contract extension] because Geoff and ourselves see his future here," said Hughes.

"He's invaluable for us because he will always step up to the mark when asked and can play in various positions for you.

"He's played a good number of games in any number of positions and certainly offers you an option at full-back, centre-half or midfield.

"That kind of versatility can clearly save you money in the transfer market because such players are so valuable to the squad."
