Stoke City boss Mark Hughes was pleased with the fight shown by his side in the Capital One Cup quarter-final on Wednesday night.
The Potters were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United in very difficult conditions at the Britannia Stadium which saw the game briefly deferred during the first half because of a hail storm.
However, the show went on with both sides battling the elements before United eventually broke the deadlock after the hour-mark through Ashley Young prior to Patrice Evra putting on the finishing touches.
Despite the defeat, Hughes was proud of his Stoke side for the way they battled throughout.
"We made a fair fist of it in the first half, against all the elements. We stuck at it and I thought we were in decent shape," he told Sky Sports.
"I thought our organisation was good and United weren't creating too many problems for us and we had a couple of chances where we got balls into the box.
"Obviously we came out second half thinking the elements would be with us, but they disappeared so we didn't get the advantage of that. That's not to say that United, on the night, didn't deserve to win."
