Hughes pleased with Stoke signings in Gladbach draw

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes was delighted with the performance of his new signings for their friendly draw with Borussia Monchengladbach.

His first four summer signings - Mame Diouf, Phil Bardsley, Steven Sidwell and Dionatan Teixeira - all featured impressively enough on their debuts.

"We were able to give almost everybody 45 minutes," Hughes told The Sentinel, "and we are a little bit behind 'gladbach by all accounts, but I didn't think there was any difference in the fitness levels.

"I thought the new lads all did well. Mame gives us a different type of threat with different types of runs. He's very liked already by the other lads and so there won't be any problems with integrating him. I'm really pleased with what he's produced so far.

"With Phil and Steve, you can see they understand the game, tried to get on the front foot and both enjoyed a good workout second half.

"Dionatan doesn't look out of place, which is encouraging for us. We like his ability on the ball and his game can only grow with understanding because he's still a young man."
