Fulham boss Mark Hughes could not put his finger on why the club has lost their last 18 matches against Everton at Goodison Park.
The Cottagers' 2-1 loss to the Toffees on Saturday continued their 52-year inability to win on Merseyside against the team in blue and Hughes was at a loss to explain why.
"The record can be psychological. It can possibly play a part sometimes," Hughes told the London Evening Standard.
"We allowed them too much respect, certainly in the first half, and as a consequence you pay the price.
"We were 1-0 down before we were out of the blocks. We were better in the second half but at two down it's a big ask. We were below the standards we set ourselves."
