Hughes leaves Fulham post

Mark Hughes has left his job at Fulham after just one season at the helm.

The man known as 'Sparky' has been heavily tipped to depart Craven Cottage in the past day or so and this afternoon it has been confirmed that he is no longer in the role.

Hughes can now take the job at Aston Villa, vacated by Gerard Houllier, which he has been linked with today.

The former Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City manager had a fairly solid debut season with the Cottagers, guiding them to an eighth-place finish and into the Europa League (this time via the Fair Play rule).
