Hughes joins full-scale Fulham signing

Fulham summer signing Aaron Hughes has returned to full-scale training.

The former Aston Villa defender is recovering from an ankle injury and told fulhamfc.com: "Thursday was my second day of training and it's quite early on but I feel pretty comfortable and hopefully I'll progress well. I've never set a comeback date - it's been one day at a time. If all goes to plan I'd like to say I'll be fit for Wigan but I don't want to tempt fate and I'll just keep taking it one day at a time and see what happens.

"It's been frustrating but I can't complain too much because I know there are guys that have been out for longer than me and I'm sure they're more frustrated than I am. I think the fact that I'd just joined a new club and was keen to get off to a good start and do well and then get injured - that's part of football and you have to deal with it.

"I've tried to take some positives out of it, like working in the gym and improving my strength and areas that I wouldn't have been able to devote so much time too. Hopefully I'll come back stronger and fitter.

"So far this season I think we've done okay but the results haven't reflected the performances. I think we've been unlucky but its early doors and we'll have a better idea of how we're doing in two or three months time."
